→ Mr Sebastian Moreno-Vacca - A2M. Brussels / New York

Sebastian Moreno-Vacca

A2M

After having founded A2M in 2000, the architect Sebastian Moreno-Vacca (graduated from Saint-Luc Brussels) rapidly began to concentrate and specialize in the construction of sustainable buildings and in feasibility studies for large scale developments. In collaboration with his three associates, he develops projects based on parametric design. As an architect, a professor (ULB Brussels) and publisher, he significantly contributed to the establishment of a mandatory passive standard in the Brussels Region since January 2015. His influence in very low-energy buildings is not limited to Brussels but he also works on an international level. Although all his projects are passive - and for some, Net Zero Energy, Exemplary Buildings, or Breeam - more than 50% are priced at an equivalent or lower cost than standard market prices. Among other Passive House projects, Moreno-Vacca is working on the Belgian Embassy in Kinshasa Congo and recently in New York in joint venture with Julie Torres Moskovitz as MMA architects. He also gives conferences and provides training worldwide.

→ Mr Nico Engel - Beng Architectes. Luxembourg

Nico Engel

Together with Marco Bidaine, Yves Noury and Albert Goedert, Nico Engel (graduated from the l’Institut Supérieur d’Architecte de l’État ‘La Cambre’ in Brussels in 1989) has joined their forces to create the Beng Architects office in 1991 in Esch-sur-Alzette. The founding team, still in place, has grown to 80 employees and seven partners to ensure the continuity. Due to the incredible growth of complexity for the architectural offices during the last 25 years, sister companies have emerged around the BENG studio: Espace et Paysages (specializing in urban projects), StudioE (topics related to energy), Noury & Associés, based in Thionville (dedicated to projects in France) and the R2D2 Architecture, founded with two colleagues from the University of Brussels, for projects in Belgium. Each of them is specialized in a specific discipline to meet at its best the customers’ demands and to handle all types of projects and scales, from the extension for a single-family home to the building of a national stadium.

→ Mr Renato Rizzi - Renato Rizzi Architetto. Venice

Renato Rizzi

After working with Peter Eisenman from 1984 to 1992, the architect Renato Rizzi, graduated in Venice in 1977, returned to Italy to devote himself to design, teaching - he is a professor at IUAV (Venice) - and research. For him, these three fields of action are closely linked. Actually his theoretical commitment aims to open technical and scientific knowledge to metaphysical knowledge as the essential horizon of architecture. Rizzi is the winner of many prestigious architectural competitions, including the design of the Palace of Sports in Trento, Italy, the building of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and Shanghai Pujiang district. In 2009 he won the gold medal for Italian architecture for the theme “Il restauro dell’antico” (The restoration of the ancient) with the museum Casa d'Arte Futurista Depero in Trento. He is also the author of numerous publications, in particular « L’inscalfibile. Saggio sull’immagine theological” (The scratch-resistant. Essay on Theological Image, Milan 2011) or The Daimon of Architecture in three volumes (2014). Since 2009, he is director of the series "Aesthetics and architecture" for Mimesis Edizioni.

→ Mr Ángel Luis Tendero - ALT Arquitectura. Madrid / Mexico city

Ángel Luis Tendero

At the same time, architect, writer, drawer, painter, sculptor and graphic designer, Ángel Luis Tendero has become one of the most important architects on the international scene, supported by his exceptional presence on Facebook. His work concentrates on creation and project development in which the concept is materialized without losing its soul. The interaction with the physical environment creates architecture. Having the necessary staff to develop all size projects, his office tries to spread a message of hope, recuperating the lost values such as the social responsibility of the architect, the key role as economic agent for resource efficient management and the reconciliation of architecture with everyone. His work concentrates on creation and project development in which the concept is materialized without losing its soul. Thanks to this success on Internet, principally in Mexico and South America, Tendero organizes workshops in the universities with many famous architects. Supported by this amazing success, he underlines the present mismatch between society and architecture, when trying to transmit ideas in a simple way.
